Jade Ring is preparing his first original music release titled “Pills” aiming for distribution early 2026.
The stage/artist name Jade Ring was an idea scratched into a years old notebook containing lyrics and ideas for his prior band, The Missing when they were recording their 2017 album “They Live.” The original concept of Jade Ring was to be a heavier analog to the White Stripes but eventually became its current iteration of an alpha-soloist avant-garde project.
Jade Ring has been writing, recording, performing music since 2002 with various periods of quiet over the decades. Over that time, he has written, produced, recorded, played on 27 albums and has published nearly 100 original songs earning multiple awards over the years. Jade Ring was inactive from 2018 to 2023, eventually returning to perform with The Missing. Soon after, The Missing continued playing shows and Jade Ring started playing bass for the award-winning artist ZUP in late 2023 which continues to this day.
Jade Ring is a very deep cut reference to Twin Peaks. It is the conduit between worlds of light and dark. Those who live between worlds are trapped in madness. As someone who has experienced the lowest of lows, and the highest of highs in life, Jade Ring could not be a more meaningful name as he attempts to explore the complications of existence both physical and metaphysical. Life is full of contradictions, dualities, abstractions and Jade Ring hopes to explore these topics in common language and music.
Jade Ring performs in a mask with respect to the concept of duality and existing in multiple lanes keeping the artist self separate from the personal self. He has always been uncomfortable using his given name as a public artist and has worked hard to scrub much of the musical internet history containing his given name. Additionally, Jade Ring is an outspoken critic of generative artificial intelligence. Once deep fake technology became accessible by the public, Jade Ring felt it was time to begin performing with a mask to avoid having his face being published on the internet. Control of individual identity is deeply personal to him and he does not want his likeness used by anyone or any corporation/government.
Along the lines of being against generative artificial intelligence, Jade Ring also became motivated to write “Pills” due to the rise and acceptance in AI generated music. Jade Ring considers himself an analog-based artist, writing and performing using the power of human creativity and expression. Although digital tools & instruments are used in his music, they are performed or operated by Jade Ring and no generative AI is used to create anything. A disclaimer will be added to the “Pills” artwork that this is “created by a human.”
As one could imagine based on his views of AI, Jade Ring is also a non-active user of social media. He does keep an instagram page but will soon only contain promotional material for the release of “Pills.” Eventually, all online engagement will be handled through his website’s mailing list, physical media/zines, and Subvert.fm.
